Protocol: Dealing with abuse by Spectators at a Grassroots level

Please find attached the Protocol for dealing with discrimination by Spectators at Grassroots level.

The protocol gives the process to be followed in incidents at Grassroots level where discriminatory abuse is witnessed coming from spectators at games.

The aim is to ensure what action the referee should take in such circumstances and to reiterate they are sole authority in abandoning matches where the matter cannot be resolved at the time.

It should also be reiterated that all matters of discrimination should be reported to ensure appropriate action can be taken.

Counties are asked to immediately disseminate to all Leagues and Clubs through their networks and to email directly all Referees for their information and action as required.

Please also place the details on your County FA websites and advertise through your social media channels.

Please note that we now have an online procedure in place for reporting discrimination for customers: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/ffdb2a192c6c4380a9da96f0138a1754
