Latest News from the Sheffield & Hallamshire Coaches Association:

Hiya everyone I hope you have enjoyed the Easter break and taken advantage of the superb weather we have been experiencing very recently.

Sadly our planned guest coach, Mark Smith, is unable to deliver his scheduled coaching workshop for us, due to personal reasons. Nonetheless, Chris Howarth – Head Of Coaching at The Blades Academy has organised a very worthy replacement and kept it ‘in house’ from SUFC’s Academy.

John Pemberton (Jnr) who is The Blades Lead Phase Coach for their U13 and U14 age groups has kindly stepped in to ensure we can attend and watch the penultimate coaching session of season 2018/2019. John will deliver a session that will provide an insight into The Blades Individual Learning Plans for the players and how they relate to their coaching programme. John Pemberton (Jnr) has really driven the process and improved The Blades Academy programme around the player being the syllabus.

An Individual Learning Plan (ILP) takes into consideration players strengths and weaknesses and recognizes that the needs of individual players are different, and thus, must be differently addressed/coached regards certain factors. It can involve setting personal ‘goals’ and developing and recognizing progress. Identifying what is important to players learning is key to their improvement at ANY level and helps players achieve their full potential. If the player is the syllabus it should ensure the coaching they receive is balanced and consistent to the players ILP and their personal development.

John’s theme/topic is a unique coaching presentation that nobody has delivered before. No two players are identical in their needs – as a Professional footballer, Academy Player or playing in Grass Roots football. This session will provide us with the opportunity of how to deal with varying levels and standards of development within OUR OWN TEAMS. A fantastic insight as to how a Pro Club Academy deal with ILP’s, which can be used in any level of football.

When: MondaY 29th April 2019; kick off at 7.00pm

Who: John Pemberton Jnr – Lead Phase Coach: U13 & U14 Sheffield United Academy

Where: Sheffield United Academy Facility, Firshill Crescent, Shirecliffe, Sheffield S4 7DR
