From Bob Cooper of Sheffield & Hallamshire Coaches Association Session
Wow!!, what a magnificent turn out to watch Aidy Boothroyd with a surprise guest, Lee Carsley, supporting Aidy throughout the session. Attendances like this are very much appreciated by myself but even more so by our guest coaches, who often travel considerable distances to support OUR coaches for the betterment of OUR/YOUR players. Aidy and Lee were genuinely impressed by OUR turn out for their session. Judging by the feedback and emails from attendees it was excellently received. Aidy and Lee were unanimous regarding returning to host another coaching workshop for OUR/YOUR Association.
Our next guest coach offers a very impressive ‘CV’:-
He has had coaching positions at QPR, Chelsea, Brighton, Charlton, Coventry, Crewe and Sheffield United. Trevor Francis hired him to develop the youth development system at Birmingham before becoming Academy Manager and Head Coach at Newcastle United during Sir Bobby Robson’s reign. He managed the Republic of Ireland’s U21 team before becoming first team coach at Norwich City. He was then offered the position of The FA National U18 team, followed by FA National coach of the U19 and U20 squads. He was Stuart Pearce’s assistant with the FA National U21 team and also the Great Britain Olympic team in 2012. Our host has been Head of Academy Coaching since February 2018 with Aston Villa.
Brian’s topic/theme will be:- ‘Turning and making clever runs in behind defences’. This theme is high on Aston Villa’s coaching agenda and Brian is trying to get Aston Villa’s coaches to work on these principles of play more often as it is key to scoring goals. Before the practical demonstration Brian will present a short talk about the coaching philosophy at Aston Villa’s Academy.
Please come along and watch Brian deliver a technical demonstration regards passing – receiving – turning – to facilitate clever runs behind the opposition defence – and lastly finishing.
Can you afford to miss this quality delivery, by Brian, who will encourage receiving to turn to create goal scoring opportunities.
Seems like a ‘gud n t meee’!!!!
