The League has received this email:

I reffed this Semi Final on Sunday. ( 03/03/19 )

Can u show the following as an acknowledgement to both teams in recognition of how Sporting they were.

Semi Final played @ Westfield Hub. ( Brinsworth Whitehills v Sheffield STeelers under 13s

Both teams played the game in a very Sporting Manner, it was a pleasure to Referee two very Respectful Teams.

One example, I gave a goal to Brinsworth which I thought had hit the post and came back to an Attacker who then scored. A Brinsworth player told me the ball hit a tyre a foot behind the post so as I result I awarded a Goal Kick.

That to me epitomized the Sportsmanship on show.

Thank you

Gary Crossley ( Referee of the Game )

Could you pass on this message to the league and circulate across social media

I would like mention a tremendous act of sportsmanship from an opposition player during our cup semi final (Sheffield Steelers u13s v Brinsworth Whitehill). A goal against us had been awarded by the referee, thinking the ball had stuck the post and a player had scored from the rebound, when in fact it had hit the wheel of the post behind the goal. There was a bit of confusion and in fairness to the referee he gave what he thought he saw, however a player from Brinsworth (No.7 I think) told the referee it had actually hit the wheel behind the goal and that the goal shouldn't count and play resumed with a goal kick. I'm not sure the players really realise the significance of such a gesture, they tend to shrug it off as business as usual but it certainly meant a lot to me and our team, especially as it was a tough game for us personally.
