E-Newsletter Issue 43

Rosehill Press Sheffield & District Juniors Sunday League Weekly E-Newsletter

Issue 43

Dear Chris

Welcome to this weeks e-newsletter.

**NEW LEAGUE NOTICES**

-The League website is getting up dated constantly. Please keep viewing the site and remember to click on the news tab to view all the League news.

-We are still looking for members to join the Cup Committee. If interested, please email nathan.batchelor@junleague.com

-Please remember that you should only contact League officials on the telephone between the following hours: Weekdays (9am to 9pm) and Weekends (9am to 7pm).

- WIN MONEY FOR YOUR CLUB

For those of you who have not yet spotted the following on the League website - this link http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=2885  explains how you could win some extra funds for your club and how your players could also win some money.

-All clubs need to check that all the teams they are entering in the League are also correctly affiliated to the County FA. The easiest way to check is to go on to http://thefa.com/GetIntoFootball/FindAClub  and input your club details. If any details are incorrect you need to contact your County FA. Teams that are not affiliated with the County FA cannot compete in the League.

-If you know that you will only be entering a single mini-soccer team, please inform myself ASAP by email. We need at least 6 teams per age-group to formulate a division. Whenever possible, clubs should try and keep to the normal two teams = one result format.

-If your mini-soccer team intends to play its home fixtures on a Saturday (remember only mini-soccer teams can play on a Saturday) please inform myself so that I can highlight this on the fixture sheet given to clubs.

- Dronfield Town U10s (U11s in 2010/2011) have this weekend withdrawn for the Sheffield Division of the 9v9 League, which now means this division is down to 7 teams. I am therefore looking for a team to take over Dronfield’s remaining fixtures. This is a free competition and those teams playing in it have really enjoyed it. All matches take place at Niagara Sports Complex  and referee's are all paid for, so your only commitment is to turn up for 4 consecutive Sundays. If you want to join please email nathan.batchelor@junleague.com  Your first game would be on August 1st.

-Following the resignation of Mike Basford, the Vice Chair position is currently vacant. To discuss the requirements of the position contact Matt Hardman (matt.hardman@junleague.com) by the 31st July.

-The dates for next season’s League meetings are now on the League website (http://www.junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=2837 ). As you will notice, the dates are now on a Wednesday to try and prevent clashes with local football league fixtures. We have also reduced the number of meetings following feedback from member clubs.

- The fixtures will be released to clubs at the August fixture meeting which is on August 11th 2010 at the normal venue.

- New Clubs joining the League must obtain the Charter Standard award before the start of their second season in the League otherwise they will be removed from the competition. All member clubs in the 2009/2010 season must obtain the Charter Standard award by the start of the 2012/2013 season or they will be removed from the competition.. If your club has not yet started working toward Charter Standard, you will need to contact Matt Handley (matt.handley@sheffieldfa.com) at the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA.

**REGISTRATION CARDS**

Remember you must have the following numbers of players registered by August 15th, or you will be fined £25.

U7-U8 = 4 players per team

U9-U10 = 5 players per team

U11-U16 = 8 players

This is the minimum number that has to be registered.

The completed registration cards need to be with the appropriate age-group registrar by the 15th August. The registrars details are the same as last year, and the names & address are in last seasons handbook and on the League website (http://junleague.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=920&leagueid=115)

Please remember to fill in ALL the details on both the front and back of the player registration cards. Already, at least one full set has had to be sent back because the backs weren't filled in, this really is important as medical detail and emergency contact phone need to be shown

**COMPETITIONS**

--NEW LEAGUE LOGO—

The League are running a competition to design a new League Logo.

The competition will be split into 3 age-groups: 7-10, 11-14 and 15+. The best logo of each age group will receive £25 each and £25 for their clubs. The overall winner will receive an extra £25 and £25 for their club.

To enter send your design by email only to nathan.batchelor@junleague.com clearly stating the following information in your email: Your Name, which age-group you are entering (7-10, 11-14 or 15+) and which club within this League you are registered with.

The closing date for entries is the 15th August 2010. Only one entry per person.

Good luck

--BOOTS FOR AFRICA—

Start collecting any old or unwanted football boots, or trainers, now! The club who donates the most to the Boots for Africa appeal will win a trip to Sheffield FC, the World’s First Football Club, for a special club day at one of the home games next season!

The winners will get to meet the players, have a penalty shoot out at half time and have their club photo taken on the pitch as a reminder of the day at the World’s First Football Club. The competition therefore will not only help a great cause but will also provide the winners with  a fantastic day out at the club where football was born!

So what are you waiting for...GET COLLECTING NOW!

Boots for Africa History:

In 2007 Sheffield Football Club, the World’s First Football Club, launched their Boots for Africa appeal, following Chairman Richard Tims visit to South Africa, where he saw the children playing football in their bare feet. Recognising that they too shared the same passion for football that he has, he dreamt of helping them.

The Aim:

The aim is to collect and donate unwanted pairs of football boots, or trainers, for the children and young adults in Africa. Your support will help make a real difference and would provide them with a sense of hope and pride for themselves and for their country. It would also benefit their fitness levels...and, most importantly allow them to learn and love ‘the beautiful game’ of football.

Sheffield RAG

Sheffield RAG (Raising and Giving) from the University of Sheffield Students’ Union will shortly be considering applications for financial support. Organisations wishing to apply do not need to be registered charities, but must be not-for-profit. Donations range from £100 to £22,000.

Applications may be submitted to the first application round from 16 August - 15 September 2010. All applications will then be processed and your organisation will be included on RAG’s charity database for the entire academic year. The students review organisations on the database after fundraising events have been held, to decide which groups to make donations to. Groups in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire can apply for funding.

The second application round will open on 4 January 2011 until 4 February 2011. However RAG encourages applying as early as possible, as it gives you a longer time to be considered for funding.

For more information see the Sheffield RAG website (http://www.sheffieldrag.com/pages/page/charity)

South Yorkshire Police Proceeds of Crime Fund

The Proceeds of Crime Fund has been set up by South Yorkshire Police and the South Yorkshire Community Foundation to support local community groups and projects that are tackling important local issues. The fund uses the money and assets that the  South Yorkshire Police confiscate from people involved in crime to benefit the community.

The priorities of the fund are as follows:

? To provide diversionary activities for children and young people in areas with higher crime or deprivation

? To support projects that reduce anti social behaviour and promote confidence in the Police

? To support community organisations in areas of higher crime or deprivation.

The majority of grants are likely to be under £1,500. Groups must be based in South Yorkshire and in very exceptional circumstances applications may be considered from individuals.

For more information, including application guidelines, visit the South Yorkshire Community Foundation’s website - http://www.sycf.org.uk/apply_for_a_grant/proceeds_of_crime_fund
