Developing Our Players
As a Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League Manager/Coach and Club Secretary I believe that being a grassroots football coach is a dream for many people. However, becoming an effective football coach takes time. Being a good coach requires a knowledge of the game and a personality that is capable of motivating a team. As grassroots coaches we are mentors, teachers, motivators and we inspire and lead by example. Are we satisfied with positive results or do we strive to improve and develop the standard of our own “club players” regardless of the result. Surely as managers/coaches/officials of SDJSL teams we have a moral duty to help improve our players. Developing players is incredibly rewarding, and our players will benefit from the additional coaching knowledge we acquire. Improved coaching methods/practices/games naturally leads on to the ultimate betterment of our club players – which is why we dedicate so much time and effort to this cause – yes, as volunteers “we are paid by seeing our players improve”.
To assist and improve our coaching knowledge/skills we can access Britain’s busiest yet cheapest Coaches Association. As we go to press there are 16 Coaching Workshops remaining during 2018 and Sheffield and Hallamshire Football Coaches Association continues to promote coach development in South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas and membership delivers the following benefits:
Sheffield & Hallamshire Football Coaches Association hold “2” monthly practical coaching sessions led by top quality professional coaches, which are free of charge to attend and observe for paid members, thereby delivering the opportunity for members to further their knowledge by seeing and hearing about new / different coaching methods and ideas.
Details of these sessions are supplied to our members via email.
We believe attending any of our sessions is invaluable for all coaches who are always looking to further their knowledge & development – please remember it’s all about the players!!
We have members at all coaching levels, from FA Level 1 to FA Pro Licence, working in grassroots football, academy football, coach education and right up to the top of the professional game. We believe the Sheffield & Hallamshire Football Coaches Association offers a valuable and varied service to new and existing coaches in South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas for coaching opportunities, coaching involvement and coach development..........why compromise with the future development of OUR PLAYERS. Attendees merely watch our guest coaches deliver an indoor presentation and a practical coaching demonstration which we take back part(s) of to work with OUR players in our coaching environments. Individual members attend when it is convenient. Club membership allows unlimited access to all club members to our sessions – however if your training nights are a problem let a club representative attend and we/they will provide coaching session plans for all attendees/club coaches to use with our players.
What is the cost of developing our players:-
Individual membership: 1/1/2018 – 31/12/2018 = £10 per annum for the remaining 16 Coaching Workshops/sessions during 2018.
Club membership: 1/1/2018 – 31/12/2018 = £50 per annum for the remaining 16 Coaching Workshops/sessions during 2018......club membership allows unlimited access to club coaches/officials/parents.
