The League has received the following email:

Just a quick email again to highlight the positives of junior grassroots football. We played Nethergreen U9's on Sunday at the new St George's park Graves. A lot of praise should go to James and his management team as well as one of their players George. In the second game, we were down to 6 players due to illness. To ensure both teams had an enjoyable even sided fair game, they offered us their substitute George to play for us. The game was fantastic and played in the perfect way with the kids putting on a real show for everyone to see. A real treat!

Credit should go to the player George for playing with strangers and indeed against his own friends. Well done young man. Credit should also go to George's parents for letting this happen and also his manager James for facilitating this loan.

I would like to also publicly praise the referee Kieran Shaw. This young ref was perfect. In fact for most of the match we forgot he was there! Kieran let the game flow and helped the kids along when needed. This young man shows skills in officiating well beyond his years and I genuinely think he's got a bright future in the game.

Yours in football,

Mike Dunning
