Member of the Council of the Football Association – Women’s and Girls’ Football

The Council of the Football Association consists of over 100 members, the majority of whom are elected by the game’s stakeholders, including County FAs, the Premier League, the English Football League, supporters, etc.

Its role is to set the game’s rules, regulations and procedures, debate issues within the game and to put forward to the Board any ideas for improving the game and the operation of the FA.

The Council usually meets 5 times a year. In addition, members may be invited onto appropriate committees which might add an additional 7 or 8 meetings per year. Most meetings commence at 11am and are held at Wembley Stadium. A modest allowance and travelling expenses are paid for each day’s attendance.

The Council now wishes to widen its membership to ensure that it is more representative of all participants. Consequently, a number of new positions have been created, one of which is for a representative of local women’s and girls’ football.

The appointment will be for an initial term of 3 years but 2 further terms could be available.

Applications are invited from candidates who are involved in a local women’s and/or girls’ football and who feel able to contribute to the Council’s debates.

Applications will be considered from all candidates but we would particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority, as they are under-represented on Council.
